Kissing In Cars by Sara Ney - Review

The first word that comes to mind to describe this book is adorable!!  The story, the characters and even the cover are all absolutely adorable!!  It was a great feel-good story about a teenage relationship that was very realistic and not overly agnsty, (which is typical of YA books).

I enjoyed getting into the heads of the two main characters with the alternating point of views.  The main female character, Molly wasn't a "damsel in distress" type.  She was confident (most of the time) and knew what and who she wanted, all the while being a typical teenage girl. Weston, the main male character was VERY confident, maybe too confident at times.  Well, he is a teenage boy who is very attractive (of course!) and the high school hockey star.  It's hard not to be.  But he was also very sweet and made me swoon quite often!!  How come boys weren't like that in my high school, college, or even post college??? Oh right, that's why it's called fiction.  ;)

I loved the funny, quirky quotes at the beginning of each chapter that related to one of the characters.  One of my favorites was:

"Sometimes your Knight in Shining armor is really just a douchebag in tin foil - Jenna, who saw it on pinterest".

The ease of the writing and the flow of the story kept me invested and I didn't want to put it down.  If I could have stayed up all night reading, I would have.  Instead I took every opportunity I had to read.  Before work, during lunch, after work, at the car dealership....  Waiting to get my car serviced was a lot less painful when I had this book to keep me company.

This is definitely a story I will re-read whenever I need a pick me up.  You can't help but get in a good mood while living in Molly and Weston's world.

Letting Go by Maya Banks - Review

I was privileged to receive an advanced copy of Maya Banks's newest novel which is available today, Letting Go (The Surrender Trilogy) in exchanged for an honest review.

Joss mourned the loss of her husband, Carson for three years.  Finally she decides to move on and live the life that she craved and one that he couldn't give her.  Little did she know Carson's best friend and business partner, Dash could give her everything she wanted and more.  He pined after Joss for years, but out of respect for Carson and their marriage, he never made a move. But after Carson's unfortunate and tragic death it was only time before he would go after what he wanted and he would stop at nothing until she was his completely.   Now she has a choice to move forward with Dash or live with the ghost of her dead husband.

Just like her other books, Maya Banks, has a way of making Dominate/Submissive relationship beautiful and loving and not demeaning or degrading.  Despite the somewhat controlling and seemingly harsh relationship, there is a sweet love story between Joss and Dash that will make you swoon.  They may not have a lifestyle I wish to follow,  but it makes for an entertaining story with a lot of HEAT.  I haven't read a Maya Banks book in awhile and had forgotten the steam that emanates off the pages!!

I also forgot once you get captivated in a Maya Banks story and think you know what's next then...BAM something happens and takes you by surprise!  There was no exception in this story and I was worried I would be disappointed in the outcome, but she didn't fail me and I had a smile on my face while I turned the last page.

As a bonus you get the beginning of the next book in the series (Yay! It's another trilogy!!!).  The next book focuses on Joss's sister-in-law, (Carson's sister) Kylie.  She has a dark past that was lightly touched on in Letting Go (The Surrender Trilogy).  Kylie has voiced that she does not agree with Dom/Sub relationship because of the abuse she endured as a child.  And the new business partner who's taking over her brother's position and she'll be working for, practices that lifestyle.  Do I sense a recipe for a budding relationship and drama????  I am very intrigued to see how the one this will work out.  Who's going to give in??

Join Me?

I have been staring at my TBR list in my Kindle library (love the new categorizing in the Kindle app by the way) for awhile now and I couldn't make a decision on what to read.  I wasn't sure if I wanted funny, romantic, suspenseful or angsty.  I even thought about re-reading a favorite because I know what to expect and I know I'll enjoy it.  But I have 51 books in my TBR and I really need to pick one of them.  So I closed my eyes and pointed my finger on my iPad and let chance do the choosing.   And what a good choice it was..  Night Owl (The Night Owl Trilogy) by M. Pierce.  I just started reading it and after only a few pages I knew this book is for me.  So far, its funny sexy and grabs your attention.   I only took time out to write this post so if anyone is feeling the same way, I can offer a recommendation.   And the best thing is the price!  Right now the kindle edition is only $.99!! (fyi prices are subject to change)  You can purchase it from the link below.  So, who out there is a fellow Night Owl reader and wants to join me????

It's been awhile since I have read that perfect book.  The one that you want to devour and savor at the same time (kind of like my lunch today.. hehe)   Where you escape into the books world and real world seems to fade away.   Shine Not Burn by Elle Casey was one of those books!   And now that I'm finished I miss it and I'm suffering from a massive book hangover once again.

I know that I after each book I read I have a new favorite book boyfriend, and now that I have found Gavin Mackenzie or "Mack" I must make room for yet another one.  But he's a sexy cowboy and I don't have anyone like him on my list!  Yee Haw! (Don't worry Kellan will never be replaced, he just has more company!)

I am so glad I didn't read any detailed reviews before I read the book.  The only information I read was that it was hilarious and had great reviews.  So I took a chance and I am so glad I did.  It was just what I needed and was looking for in a book.  I laughed, I cried and I had a smile on my face the whole time.  It was fantastic!  So, that's all I'm going to say about this book.  Don't read spoilers it will take away from the experience.  Well, maybe not! I'm sure the book will still be fantastic the next time I read it.  Which may be right now! :)

Freebie Alert!!

Oooh this book looks so good.  It has a great review rating and the best part it's free right now on Amazon! I can't wait to dive into this one!

Book Description from Amazon:   Chasing Justice (Book 1) (Piper Anderson Series)

Piper Anderson has been given a fresh start in the picturesque town of Edenville, North Carolina. But her plans of settling into a normal life are derailed when she witnesses a prominent judge in her community committing a violent assault. Running from her own past and fueled by a passion to make the judge answer for his crimes, Piper is forced to decide if she’ll play by the rules or achieve justice in her own way.

Complicating things further, Piper finds herself fighting a powerful attraction to rookie cop, Bobby Wright. Although she’s increasingly enamored with Bobby, his staunch belief in the justice system is in stark contrast to her own. She may not share his opinions about the effectiveness of the law, but she certainly can’t deny how safe she feels when she’s in his arms or how every kiss leaves her desperate for more.

For Piper, the idea of finally living an ordinary life with a man to love is tempting. However, fate keeps placing the judge, quite literally, in her path. Will she decide the only way to win is to be as wicked as the judge, but with righteous intentions? And more importantly, will Bobby choose to let her go, or follow her as she crosses the line and takes justice into her own hands?

The cursed existence of Jessalyn Bell By Katie Johnson - Review

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book!  I'm sure it had to do with the fact the main character and I have a very similar life problem....BAD LUCK!  Of course Jessalyn's luck was much worse than mine and I would not be able to handle all the she endured.

Jessalyn is a hard working college graduate that wants to make a life for herself.  Unfortunately, she experiences set backs in her "career" one after another.  She also struggles with her parents divorce,  her father's new family and her future step sisters who were a lot like Cinderella's evil step sisters! She has even more bad luck when it comes to her living situation and roommates.  Seriously, can she catch a break?

Even through all the hardships and set backs, a true romance develops between Jessalyn and  a dreamy blue eyed police officer named Kyle.  Despite the fact that their first meeting was not exactly ideal; Kyle arrested her because she was mistaken for someone else!  And that Jessalyn and Kyle's first few dates didn't exactly go has planned.  Their first date landed Jessalyn in the hospital! Most couples would have given up but they had a pull towards each other that couldn't be ignored.  I guess it's true love when you stick around when everything else seems to be falling apart to pieces.

I started reading in the early evening, thinking I would start it, read a few chapters and pick it up later the next day. Nope! Around 3 am I read the last page.  It's been awhile since I have read a book in once sitting.  Even if the book is captivating and hard to put down, sleep usually wins out and I stop reading.  Not this one, I couldn't stop!  I had to see how it ended.  Although It didn't end quite how I expected, it did wrapped up nicely and made for a very entertaining story.

The Cursed Existence of Jessalyn Bell (Jessalyn Bell, #1) comes out November 1st.  Wait!!  Did you see the end of the title? Jessalyn Bell #1??  Looks like its a series.  Yay!!  I'm excited to see how her story continues.

Theirs to Keep By Maya Banks - Review

I should have known by the title what I was in for with Maya Banks' newest book, Theirs to Keep (Tangled Hearts Trilogy).   But no, it didn't register and I was beyond shocked!  It's a bit out of my comfort zone but intriguing nonetheless.

If I had to describe this book in one word it would be, interesting.   The plot was interesting.  The THREE main character's relationship was um.... Interesting.  And their romantic relationship was very INTERESTING!!  I may have blushed more than a few times as the story progressed.

I have read several books by Maya Banks and they all have been very hot with many passionate and sexy scenes.  This one took a bit of a different approach and developed the characters and the main plot before diving into the steamy parts.  Even though there were only a few, they were very hot!!!

The story begins with Merrick and Cade, best friends and business partners of a security company,  who find a frightened and severely beaten Elle after she breaks into their client's gun shop.  Elle remembers nothing about her past, who she is or why someone tried to kill her.

Once Merrick and Cade laid eyes on Elle, they have an overwhelming need to protect and care for her. And despite the appearance of the two intimidating men before her, she feels safe with them but struggles with remembering her past.  She is scared to remember all the pain and trauma that she endured, but feels lost not having an identity.

The story continues on a roller coaster of dramatic events while the romantic relationship between the three characters develop. Unlike other books by Maya Banks, this one ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. There is so much more to learn about Elle's past.  The next book in the tangled hearts trilogy continues with her story and introduces a new character.  Do I smell a foursome???  eeek!  I guess I'll have to wait until the next book is released.  And I am looking forward to it!!
