Reckless By S.C. Stephens - Review

Before I start my review......I just need a minute. ;)

Sigh.... Ok, I am think I am ruined from falling in love with another book boyfriend.  Nothing compares to Kellan, and once again, he proves to be nothing short of amazing! Recklesswas nothing short of AMAZING!!

Normally, when I am excited about a book or thoroughly engrossed in one, I devour it quickly and poof! It's over. For Reckless, I took my time.  I savored it.  I read paragraphs and sentences over and over again just to make sure I didn't miss a thing. (and to go back and instantly re-live it) I even put it down for a few hours to process and digest what I read.  I didn't want it to end!  But, when it did, it ended absolutely perfectly!!!

Throughout the entire book, I found myself reading with a silly grin on my face, laughing out loud and tears in my eyes. I was enjoying the ride and falling in love with the characters all over again.   I even have a new found love for Griffin!  Who would have thought??? Obviously, its not on the same caliber as my love for Kellan, but feeling anything other disgust for Griffin is huge!

I went through and highlighted so many incredible quotes and scenes. But, decided not use any in this review. I would hate to take away the surprise and thrill of some of the unexpected and wonderful moments in the story.  I won't mention the storyline either.   I know synopses and blurbs are posted everywhere online, but I don't want say anything and accidentally give anything away.  It's just one of those books you can read with just hearing the words...."a fantastic story" or "a five star read"! Of course, it being the third and final book in the trilogy you have to read it not matter what is said.  I will say, the plot was not at all what I was expecting, which is not a bad thing!  It gave me everything I wanted and surprised me with so much more.

I am sad that's over and that I need to move on.  Ok, I will never completely move on, but I will find another story and another character to obsess over to some degree.  One good thing is, when I feel I'm in a reading slump or need a Kellan fix,  I have three wonderful books to re-read!  And I guarantee, that will happen many many times!

For this book, it gets the ULTIMATE book boyfriend rating:

Do Not Disturb

I have a date tonight with my ultimate book boyfriend, Kellan Kyle and Reckless!!!

I will not be answering my phone, responding to emails or text messages for the next few hours.  I need to give Kellan my undivided attention! (yes I took the day off from work)  Also, there will be no cleaning, laundry or meals prepared during that time.  Thank you for your understanding. ;).

Bookaholics Anonymous Anyone?

My reading addiction has been out of control in the last few weeks.  I've been bingeing on book after book after book.  Not taking any time to sit down and write a proper review.  There have been so many awesome stories, but I just needed to read "one more" before I stopped.  (I said that 5 books ago)  I get it!  I have a problem, but it just feels so good.   ;)

I decided I need a break (and possibly an intervention).  Since I have too many stories swirling around in my head, I will do a brief recap and some of my thoughts and feelings on a few.  I also have a full review for On the Island: A Novel by Tracey Garvis Graves that is almost ready.  I just need to tweak it.  I started to write the review right when my addiction started to get out of control.  Fellow book addicts know what I'm talking about.

True Love Story by Willow Aster

A musician, Ian and a preacher's daughter, Sparrow had an undeniable pull towards each other.  Sparrow was significantly younger than Ian, but she proved to be more mature.  You know, the typical man whore musician (that I love so much) who can't seem to get relationships right.  This musician in particular, broke my heart!   I was seriously crushed and wasn't sure I was going to recover.  The story takes place over 5 years and that's about how long it felt for me to put my heart back together.!  Despite the angst, heartbreak and betrayal, it's one of my favorites.

The story of Blaire and Rush.  Blaire just buried her mother and had no other choice than to seek help from her estranged father.  Unfortunately, he wasn't around when she showed up at his house.  But his wife's, son of rock star was.  I know technically he is her step-brother and that creates a bit of an ick factor, but I didn't let it get to me too much.  I think, the only one to have a problem with it was me!  Not one character in the story seemed to think it was a little weird.  So I was able to look past it.   I mean they aren't blood related, but someone is……..

I have read Fallen Too Far back in January for the first time and I liked it but didn't love it.  It did end with a cliffhanger, but luckily I didn't have to wait long for the second one, Never Too Far.  I read it again before the second  one was released, and I actually liked it a lot more the second time around.  I absolutely loved Never too Far and thought it wrapped the story up nicely.  I understand now why everyone else who has read this series, have a "rush crush" becuase I definitely have one now!!

This book dealt with a serious subject matter, drug use.  An unlikely love story considering how Pax and Mila meet.  Mila, a stranger who happened to be at the right place at the right time, saves Pax's life after an overdose.   Pax, a trust fund kid with a dark past, has nothing better to do but numb his feelings with alcohol and drugs.  Mila, an artist with a tragic past of her own, pulls him out of the dark and introduces him to a world full of life and color.

I liked this book and felt the characters were well developed and realistic.  My heart broke for Pax when he discovers part of his past that he kept hidden from himself.  It was at times happy, sad, romantic, heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Rule by Jay Crownover

Oh Rule!  *swoon*  A tattooed, pierced bad boy who falls for his deceased twin's best friend, Shaw.  Shaw happens to be the complete opposite of Rule, an innocent, people pleasing, pre-med student who has been secretly in love with Rule since she was 14.  Rule only engages in one night stands and could care less for the feelings of the woman he kicks out of bed every weekend.   On Shaw's birthday, she runs into Rule and ends up giving him the ultimate present.  From the moment they touch,  he wants her and only her.   For a guy who never had a committed relationship before, he seems to pick up on the dynamics pretty quick.  Of course he's not perfect and drama is lurking around the corner!  But that's what keeps the story interesting!

I absolutely love this author!  She had me as a fan after reading Vain!  Her writing style is captivating and you can jump right into the characters heads!  There were a few typing and grammatical errors that had stopped the spell I was in while reading.  But, I understand that it happens, especially with self published authors, so it never affects my ratings.   (I know my writing isn't perfect and I find mistakes weeks after I have published a blog post -so who am I to judge?)

I loved the slow (sometimes painfully slow) love story that developed between Callum and Harper.  There wasn't any betrayal or mistrust,  just lack of communication.  That helped string the story along in the most frustrating way!  I wanted to jump into the book and pull the two together and scream "TALK TO EACH OTHER!" Unfortunately, I had to watch it play out while on the edge of my seat!  The story was filled with some action packed situations that had me sucked in and I couldn't put the book down until I was finished.

The second book in the series, Thomas & January, Book Two in the Sleepless Series, was a nice change since it wasn't as heavy and dramatic!  I needed a break from all the angst!  The two had great chemistry and the banter between them was fun to read.  Of course the story can't always be rainbows and sunshine, someone has to throw a wrench in the happiness!  Thankfully, it wasn't too drawn out.  I have read reviews on both and most said they didn't like it as much as Callum & Harper, Book One in the Sleepless Series .  I have to disagree.  I like it just as much, if not  more.
