Book Of The Week

My Husband and I had a very rare date night last week and he chose the movie,  If I Stay.   Yep, he chose a chick flick! (he usually does ;) )  After it ended, the entire theater full of teenage girls and my husband gasped at the abrupt and unfinished ending.  He looked at me confused, so I had to tell him it was an adaptation of a book that also has a sequel.  Which I had planned on reading both before we even thought about seeing the movie, but he couldn't wait and we had to see the day it was released.

So the second part of our date was.....the book store!  :x We scoured the teen romance section until we found the collection,  If I Stay and Where She Went (If I Stay Book 2) by Gayle Forman.  I suggested getting the two books together since I was interested in reading both.  He just wanted to know what happens so he dove right into the second book.

I am about half way through If I Stay, and I'm glad I saw the movie first.   You know, the book is always better than the movie!   It's just not possible to put all the detail from the book into a 2 hour movie.  However, there are parts of the movie that are better on screen than in the book.  Since the story is about musicians, the music played in the movie is a nice bonus that you can't get on paper.

Overall, the movie and book compliment each other very well.  Yes, there are some changes and differences.  The movie really focuses on the relationship between Mia and Adam, where the book focuses on Mia and her family more.  I realize, since I haven't finished yet that may change.

Book of the Week

I know this was my book of the week a few weeks ago, but since I finished it and there was a WTF??? at the end, I had go back and re-read, so it only makes sense to do a book of the week redo too.

The reason I am reading it again is because I need to see if there were clues that would have prepared me for the last sentence of the story!  I wonder if I payed closer attention, would I have seen it coming?   It's kind of a game changer!  It makes me see some characters in a different light. (aka TJ)  However, I still LOVE Trent and that hasn't changed.  I even like him better than the original Maddox brother, Travis.  Sorry Travis!!

I also think I need to go back and re-read Beautiful Disaster: A NovelWalking Disaster: A Novel (Beautiful Disaster Book 2), and A Beautiful Wedding: A Novella (Beautiful Disaster), since they all  intertwine with Beautiful Oblivion.    Maybe I should just dedicate a weekend to the Maddox brothers and read them one after another!!!  Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! :x

So, if you haven't read Beautiful Oblivion: A Novel (The Maddox Brothers Series), please refrain from skipping and reading the back page.  It will ruin the shock at the end.  Just go back and re-read and look for the clues! ;)

I also suggest you read entire Beautiful Disaster series before diving into Trent and Cami's world in Beautiful Oblivion.  Things will make more sense, especially at the end.

So that's all I'm going to say about the story.  I know I'm being really cryptic, but I don't want to spoil anything, plus I really want to go back to and finish reading... again!  :)

Book of the Week.

I decided to dedicate this week's BOTW to my all time favorite book boyfriend, Kellan Kyle.  And there is not just one book, but three and one on the way!!  Due February 2015!  ;)

Since I read Thoughtless and Effortless (Thoughtless Book 2) before I started my blog, I never wrote a review for these two books.  Honestly, I don't know how to without telling you everything about this amazing series and spoiling it.  However, I did write a spoiler free review for Reckless (Thoughtless Book 3) which can be found by clicking on the S.C. Stephens label at the end of this post.

I have read A LOT of romance book and to this day, Kellan still remains my number one.  It seems that most romance book bloggers have their favorite book boyfriend and even though they may not all be Kellan, I love the passion that they have for their favorite and it makes me feel a little less silly for swooning over a fictional character!

Now let's talk about Thoughtful, the next book in the series that releases in February. (sorry, no link yet ;( ) It is the story of Thoughtless told in Kellan's point of view.  There is always a chance that these - same story, different point of view books can be repetitive and sometimes boring.  But from what the author has said you will learn so much about his past and watch as he falls in love with Kiera. sigh.... Heck, the story could be about Kellan knitting a blanket and I would still read it!  :)

I can't get too excited because I still have six months before I get my hands on Thoughtful.  I guess I can always re-read the trilogy about a thousand more times while I wait!
